It’s been only 8 years since 196 Nations signed the
Paris Climate Agreement...
...And 7 since Trump pulled the U.S. out of it.
We are making RISING TIDES to show the real consequences of ignoring the people who are witnessing first hand what science has been predicting for a century.
Welcome to “Rising Tides”
“Rising Tides” is our documentary that delves into the profound effects of climate change on Atlantic Coast shellfish beds and the fishing industries. Through in-depth exploration and intimate interviews, the film highlights the struggles and resilience of three distinct shell fishing communities:
Long Island, New York: Scallop fishermen are grappling with declining harvest due to warming waters and ocean acidification.
Baltimore, Maryland: Blue crab fishermen navigate changing ecosystems and habitat loss, impacting both their livelihoods and the iconic Chesapeake Bay ecosystem.
Coast of Maine: Maine’s lobster boats are now facing unprecedented threats from shrinking yields and moving habitats, forcing them to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Additionally, the documentary examines the devastation wrought by bleached coral reefs in the Florida Keys, underscoring the interconnected nature of marine ecosystems and the far-reaching consequences of climate change.
“Rising Tides” will employ a multi-faceted approach to storytelling, combining in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, footage of coastal landscapes, and compelling data.
The film will feature interviews with prominent researchers in the fields of coastal restoration, marine biology, and aquaculture, providing viewers with a comprehensive understanding of the scientific underpinnings of climate change’s impact on shellfish populations. Additionally, the documentary will give voice to climate activists and policymakers working tirelessly to advocate for meaningful policy change and adaptation strategies.
